As a Certified Hakomi Therapist, Deirdre offers a potent alternative to traditional talk therapy. While she blends many therapeutic and intuitive practices, her primary modality is Hakomi, a mindfulness-based somatic approach to emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual healing. Hakomi works primarily with body awareness, in particular, the ways in which our emotions show up as physical sensations.

Deirdre guides her clients into their own body, heart, and mind to unwind stuck memories and emotions, and teaches them how to meet their present moment experience with attentive compassion. Laura is a licensed counselor, author, meditation teacher, and bodyworker practicing mind-body psychology and holistic healing in Austin. She operates Cosmic Heart Counseling. She is an EMDR trained therapist specializing in trauma resolution for highly sensitive people and survivors of narcissistic abuse.

Her book “Supernatural Recovery” guides the reader through a 12 step alternative for addiction and nervous system recovery. She works with highly sensitive people, gifted and talented children, and with pregnant or postpartum women. She has led meditation and self-care workshops, nervous system recovery classes, and 12 step alternative meetings all over Austin. She is passionate about working with other sensitives, healers, empaths, mothers, and new parents.

I am also passionate about working with artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and deep thinkers who have been feeling creatively blocked, stagnant, or uninspired. I love having philosophical conversations where we explore the tough existential questions.

Because I am trained in holistic approaches and health coaching, many clients also seek my help in finding ways to improve their mental health without the use of pharmaceuticals, if possible. While I am not at all against medication and am happy to help clients in adhering to their medication regimen, I understand that many people have reservations about side effects or choose not to seek help from the pharmaceutical industry. I am happy to provide hope, support, and psychoeducation about ways to boost mental wellness using holistic strategies.
