History
After suffering a heart attack at the age of 41, Dr. Roy knew he needed to make life changes to prevent further disease and return to optimum health. He started researching health and longevity, and he found functional medicine to be the answer. Rather than treating the effects or symptoms of illness, functional medicine involves finding the root of the problem. It focuses on preventing health issues through lifestyle modifications; including diet, exercise, sleep, nutrition, stress reduction, weight loss, spirituality, hormone optimization and detoxification.
While working in the hospital wards and rounding in the ICU and telemetry units, he realized how many patients were suffering from the effects of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and coronary artery disease that could be better managed through an integrative approach. He is eager to work with patients on lifestyle improvements, diet and nutrition to restore others to optimal function, as he did with his own personal health.

Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner @ West Holistic Medicine
Jameson James, L.Ac, M.AmSAT is a graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, the New England Conservatory, Alexander Technique New York City, and the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. He combines over 10 years of study and practice of acupuncture with 10 years of Alexander Technique teaching experience. His journey into integrative medicine began with personal challenges– to improve his mobility, pain and singing. He studied Alexander Technique as a tool for his own opera singing and then trained to teach the technique at AT-NYC under John Nicholls and Nanette Walsh. Jameson uses the Alexander Technique to address the root of habits which often lead to disease. By improving breathing, posture and movement, the technique can help relieve back pain, neck pain, headache, stress, improve mobility, balance issues, lack of coordination, the ‘fear reaction’ triggered by change, and voice problems. In addition to training and licensing in Traditional Chinese Medicine, he has learned some ancient Japanese techniques–including pediatric Shonihari with Sensei Koei Kuwahara, Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture with Martha Lucas, and Neoclassical Pulse studies with Dr. William Morris.
On a personal note, Jameson loves opera. In fact, he lived in NYC for nearly ten years singing and studying with some of the best in the world. Occasionally, you will hear him sing with Southwestern University, the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, or even in the office. When he is not working with patients, he loves to swim, run or hike in the Greenbelt with his daughter and oversized puppy, Layla.
