Dr. Maria LaPutt has a clinical doctorate in physical therapy and has over 17 years of real-world experience as a licensed physical therapist.
She has over two decades of experience in the health and fitness industry. Maria is not a typical physical therapist. She has gone through extensive training and continues to travel and take continuing education courses multiple times a year. She has developed a unique approach in working with the human body. She treats each person as a whole being and understands the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. She thinks and treats out of the box and has helped multiple clients who have been unsuccessful with traditional therapy and medicine. She believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself given the right path/guidance.

Maria’s own personal health and healing journey prompted her to become an expert therapist in the John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach®. She is also a Certified Pilates Teacher in the Polestar® Pilates for Rehabilitation system. She is a registered yoga teacher and has practiced yoga for more than two decades.
She is currently preparing to obtain her certifications in visceral and neural manipulation under the Barral institute. She has also trained with Dr. Daniel Vladeta and incorporates the OOV in her sessions. She has an understanding and training in various forms of energy work.

She grew up in the Midwest and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at Western Michigan University. Gradually moving her way more south, she attended Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia and then completed her residency at Bay Area Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. She has since furthered her training with the Institute for Functional Medicine, and continually aims to help her patients get to the root of the problem, as well as educates on prevention to help her patients maintain optimal wellness.

Additionally, she is experienced with natural thyroid management and bio-identical hormone therapy.
Dr. Keller lives in Austin with her husband, daughter, and fluffy german shepherd. When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Keller enjoys cooking, running the trails, dancing, yoga, and live music.

Dr. Katriny Ikbal is a board certified family physician with a passion for patient care. She is a graduate of UT-Austin with a B.S. in Nutrition, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and UT Southwestern Austin Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Ikbal is currently training with the Institute for Functional Medicine and plans to become certified in the near future.
Before founding DirectMed in 2015, Dr. Ikbal spent several years working in urgent care. This is where she realized the need for family medicine built around more meaningful patient/doctor relationships focusing on long term health through wellness and prevention. She is devoted to delivering the best and most affordable care possible and firmly believes that optimal care requires continuity with direct access. DirectMed takes care of many local businesses in addition to individuals, couples and families in the greater Austin, TX area.
DirectMed is truly a ‘family’ practice where each patient receives the time and attention they deserve. Neer Patel is Dr. Ikbal’s husband and Practice Manager responsible for business and integration of technology which helps strengthen its patient relationships.
Outside the office, Dr. Ikbal is heavily involved in the community. She enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the world through travel. Dr. Ikbal became a new mother in 2015 and delivered her second child in 2017. First-hand experience of parenthood has brought her a whole new appreciation of all the parents and children she cares for.
